I filmen ”Black Panther” træder vi ind i Marvels superhelteunivers og følger den mandlige hovedperson T’Challa, der efter sin fars død vender tilbage til det afrikanske land Wakanda for at overtage tronen og regere som retmæssig konge. Men hans suverænitet bliver udfordret af en mangeårig modstander i en konflikt, der kan have verdensomspændende konsekvenser. For at redde kongedømmet og forhindre en mulig verdenskrig må T’Challa opruste sig som Black Panther i samarbejde med CIA-agenten Everett K. Ross og medlemmer af Wakandas specialstyrker, Dora Milaje. Filmen er baseret på tegneserien Black Panther og bliver den 18. film i Marvels filmunivers. Bag filmen står den prisvindende instruktør Ryan Coogler, der også har instrueret boksefilmen Creed (2015) og Fruitvale Station (2013). Rollelisten byder bl.a. på Michael B. Jordan, som har samarbejdet med instruktøren flere gange.
