'En revne i tiden' handler om Meg, en helt almindelig teenagepige der sammen med sin bror Charles og vennen Calvin begiver sig ud på en eventyrlig rejse gennem tid og rum for at redde sin far, der er blevet taget til fange på en fremmed planet.

“Your father has accomplished something extraordinary, also dangerous”, with these words Mrs. Which addresses Meg, whose astrophysicist father has disappeared. Together with her brother and a friend, the little girl goes on a quest for Dr. Murry’s life (Chris Pane) and for a battle against evil forces. Guided by the three astral travelers, Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), the extraordinary group uses a wrinkling of time and space, to get themselves transported to fantastic worlds where Meg will have to be tested. Will the girl find out the way back home? Would Meg finally embrace herself as she is – with her flaws, but also with her strength?
